Summer Programs 2009 - Introductory Letter
Here is the introductory letter from the front of the new 22 page Summer Programs 2009 brochure!
Dear Families,
Greetings! It’s that time of year to start thinking about signing up for Day Camp and Summer Enrichment Activities. We have been busily programming and we are excited about the diversity of programs we are able to offer. Our mission is to provide your camper with a safe and enjoyable experience that engages your camper and provides opportunities for emotional, social and athletic growth. Our Programs present tremendous opportunities for your child to widen horizons, form new friendships, take risks and discover new strengths all under the supervision of well trained staff.
A little about our department…The Community Education Department opened its doors as the newest Westborough Public School Department on July 1, 2003. Our goal when the department was launched was to provide financial relief to the school department budget during difficult economic times. As many of you know, those difficult times continue to become more challenging every year.
Since opening, we have been a completely self-funded department able to contribute our net profit to the School Department at the end of every fiscal year. The net fiscal contribution to the budget has ranged between approximately $48,000 our first year to approximately $100,000 at the end of the 2007-2008 school year. This year, promises to be our best year ever as we are on target to net approximately $125,000.
Please keep in mind, when you sign your child up for a program offered through the Community Education Department, you are directly supporting the Westborough Public Schools. By supporting our department and signing up for our programs you are helping to reduce the School Department Budget deficit.
Help us, help you. Sign up for our programs today. Spread the word; share our brochure with friends, family, neighbors, etc. All are welcome to participate in our programs, not just Westborough residents.
Is there a program that we do not currently offer that you wish offered? Please let us know what it is. If possible, we will add it to our list of offerings! Thank you for your interest in and continued support of our programs.
Very Sincerely Yours,
Kim Sholler, Director Westborough Community Education Department
