Congrats to Ms. MONICA PIETRZAK ("pyet-schack"), former Westborough resident who was crowned MISS CONNECTICUT USA 2009 at the pageant held in Stamford this past weekend (October 18 - 19, 2008).

Monica resided in Westborough with her family, starting from when she was in the first grade. She is a Westborough High School alum (Class of 2001), and graduated from UMass Amherst in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science Degree  in pharmacology/business management.  She is presently a medical representative for Pfizer, for whom she relocated to Manchester, Connecticut.

In her spare time, she travels to Europe to see her family who, including her grandmother, still reside in Poland.  As she writes, "my parents are first generation Americans so Polish was our first language as well."  Monica's sister Natalie also attended Westborough schools and is studying for her Masters in Marketing while working for a firm in Boston.

As winner of Miss Connecticut USA 2009, she is eligible to compete next Spring for the Miss USA title, which will be televised on NBC. Monica was also the 1st runner-up for Miss Massachusetts USA 2007!

Let's all wish our former Westborough gal the very best for continued success next Spring at the Miss USA 2009 Pageant at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
