Confused - new restaurant Tavolino???

[We received the following 26-Oct-2009.  Additional comments welcome.  --webmaster]

This is not an advertisement....but simply a very poor, poor commitment to the community when a new restaurant moves in called Tavolino near "Baystate" and doesn't invite its neighbors in for a drink.

I've walked the dog several times by the business and there is no "welcome" to those hundreds of residents that drive by this newly opened establishment daily. I haven't received a letter in the mail or coupon that says come try us. I know they are high end, but give me a break - you came into our neighborhood and you can't extend the invite so that we can create a viral marketing campaign and support your business in a recession?

What has happened here? The neighbors are all a buzz that this new restaurant opened....and the understanding from the community, these are limited conversations, is that Tavolino has no intention of marketing to us - is this true? Shame on you, we have choices.

This is not about a free drink, this is about setting the correct tone in a community with lovely people all trying to live a good and healthy life. We like supporting small businesses and we will continue to support those that reach out to us and make us feel at "home".

I challenge Tavolino to share its neighborhood marketing plan - that is if you have one.

"...not about the free drink" Yeah, right.

Hey Laura - the restaurant is your new neighbor. Why don't YOU bring 'em a plateful of cookies?

"... not about the free drink." Ha!

Many restaurants prefer a "soft start" to give them time to work out the kinks in their training and customer support before announcing their arrival to an area.

Jennifer, sadly you missed the point.
When a business comes into a community and wants patronage, it is in their best interest to personalize and embrace the community.
Examples are always in your mail, from discount coupons to trunk show announcements.
Do not mistake smart marketing and lack of Tavolino's for a food review.
I have eaten there since the post, but until they change the big sign from "Now Open" to "All are Welcome" I won't be back.
It's ALL in the Experience, and yes, the experience before you even step foot in their environment.

I do not know why anyone, who hasn't even been in a restaurant yet, would sit down to write such things.
Tavolino has not even had a "Grand Opening" yet and business has been booming for them so why would they need to send coupons to people who complain about them? I also live in Westborough, have ACTUALLY been to Tavolino and I found the experience to be nothing short of wonderful! The staff was great, the food amazing, and they were very WELCOMING.
As for Laura's comment, "We like supporting small businesses and we will continue to support those that reach out to us and make us feel at "home"." You haven't even given this restaurant a chance! And quite frankly, if this restaurant was filled with people as rude as you, it wouldn't make for a friendly environment to eat in!
I, again, would like to thank Tavolino's staff and the ever-so kind Manager Anthony. And I would like to welcome YOU to our town of Westborough! :)

Jennifer ( A very satisfied new customer! )
