Speaking of the Bay State Commons park...

What's wrong with this picture?

checkboard tables at Bay State Commons park

Perhaps you've read the article about issues with the Bay State Commons Park.  I don't know if this is listed, but check out these tables.

Can you spot what's wrong?

HINT: if they add two more seats on the other sides of each table, then it'll be "fixed".

Give up? (scroll down)

The checkerboard was painted incorrectly!  The table is 90 degrees out of whack.

From Wikipedia, "The board is always placed so that the rightmost square on the row nearest each player is a 'white' square."  (This is also the same for checkers.)

My suggestion?  Add two stools to each of the tables on the empty sides.  This'll make the tables more usable as regular tables, plus make it possible to correctly play a game of chess or checkers.
