Facts about the contract:
- National Grid customers will receive a portion of their electricity in the form of a long term (15-year) stable price contract from Cape Wind, which will provide greater price stability from a clean source of electricity.
- There will be no impact on electric bills until 2013, the first year that Cape Wind is expected to be in full service. National Grid has forecast a bill impact of a $1.59 increase per month for a typical residential customer. It is important to consider that this is based on National Grid’s forecast of stable fossil fuel prices – when fossil fuel prices rise again the rate impact will be reduced or even eliminated.
- Included in the contract price of 20.7 cents per kilowatt hour, Cape Wind is providing National Grid with energy, Renewable Energy Credits, and 15-year stable pricing, makes this a good long term value for consumers.
- For this modest bill impact, National Grid customers will make Massachusetts a global leader in offshore renewable energy and enable the benefits of new jobs, cleaner air and greater energy independence that Cape Wind will bring.
- Cape Wind will also place downward pressure on wholesale electric prices in New England, saving electric consumers over $4 Billion dollars over the life of the project according to a study by Charles River Associates.
- When we depend on coal, oil and gas to make electricity we don’t just pay with our electric bill; we pay with polluted air and higher healthcare costs, we pay with an environment degraded by oil spills, we pay with having to defend global energy supply lines, and we pay with a changing climate. Cape Wind opens up and harnesses our abundant offshore wind resource to meet our electricity needs from a clean, stable and inexhaustible source of energy that also provides a safer and more hopeful energy future.
Please Choose a Name for the New Park
UPDATE: The name "Veterans Freedom Park" has been chosen! As of the 8-June-2010 Selectmen's meeting.
Two names for the new Lee Property park in Westborough will be presented at the selectman's meeting on May 25 at 7:45 pm at Town Hall. The Lee Property Committee conducted a survey with 3 names, West View Park, Crossroads Park and Stonewall Park. West View Park received the majority of votes but we also had 2 write-in names that have now been nominated, Sunset Hill Park and Veterans Freedom Park. Sunset Hill Park was suggested as a write-in name from a neighbor of the park who lives on West Main Street. Her note stated that the property was once called Sunset Hill Farm. Another neighbor who is on the committee verifies that the sunsets are spectacular. The second name was a write-in suggestion by the Veterans Committee. It is supported by the Westborough Veterans Committee to honor all veterans in naming the park Veterans Freedom Park and to remind us all our freedom is ours in large part due to the veterans of our armed services.
The selectmen will vote on the names either at the meeting on Tuesday, May 25 or at the meeting on Tuesday, June 8.

I wanted to take a moment to thank all the parents, friends, and community members that have participated in the Not Your Average Joe's, Not Your Average Cause, promotion over the past two months. This promotion has been a great success and the community support has truly benefited the Boroughs JCC
TODAY - 5/25 is the last opportunity to support the Boroughs JCC through this promotion. So I am asking everyone to please dine out at Not Your Average Joe's at least one last time.

2010 Cello Festival Orchestra Concert Gift Rewards Now Available

Sponsorship is now available for the 2010 Cello Festival Orchestra Concert, featuring works by Vivaldi, Saint-Saëns, and others; as performed by the students of local cello teacher, Maryan M. Pietropaolo.
