Written by Judith Wilchynski
Wednesday, 22 July 2009 21:24

The Westborough Community Band made their debut at the Westborough July 4th Block Party to rave reviews.  The forty plus members from various towns sounded great playing patriotic songs for the audience.  Led by Matthew Lefebvre, Westborough High School band teacher, it has become a reality in a short period of time.

The band is hard at work and ready for their second performance this summer. The concert will be held on Friday, July 31st from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Hastings School on East Main Street. The concert will be held outdoors on the grass for all to enjoy.  The public is invited to grab a chair or blanket, bring a snack or supper and enjoy the sounds of summer.

Music to be performed will include the American Songbook and patriotic tunes.

The Board of Directors for the community band include Kathy Cincotta, Judith Wilchynski, Steve Masciarelli, Donna Kelly, Matt Lefebvre and Steve Hilton.  The board is already planning concerts and venues for the summer of 2010.  The musicians are students in grades 7 to 12 and adults of all ages.  It is open to any musician willing to practice, enjoy the camaraderie of fellow musicians and ready to entertain. For information contact Kathy Cincotta at kathy_cincotta@charter.net

Written by Webmaster
Thursday, 28 May 2009 10:28

Come Join the Band!

Music has always been a strong element of the Westborough community with the Community Chorus, Hundredth Town Chorus, Players Club, performing arts programs for children and our great fine arts program in the school district.

To continue in that tradition, several community members are organizing the foundation for the Westborough Community Band.  The band will be led by Matthew Lefebvre.  Members of the board of directors are Kathy Cincotta, Steve Hilton, Donna Kelly, Steve Masciarelli and Judy Wilchynski.

An orientation information session will be held on June 17 from 7-8 p.m. at the high school band room. Please enter from the upper back parking lot to the high school. Rehearsals will be held on June 24 and July 1 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the high school band room.

This is open to musicians of all ages and the intention is to play 3 concerts this summer. The first concert will be planned for early July in Westborough.

If you would like to attend the orientation or join the band please email Kathy Cincotta at kathy_cincotta@charter.net. Please include your name, phone number and instrument that you play.
