Coyotes in Westborough - news and resources
Coyotes in Westborough? We first learned about this in 2008. Perhaps you've been seeing articles about concerns, attacks, or other general coyote news:

The recent coyote attack in town was raised and discussed at last night's Board of Selectmen meeting of June 22, 2010. (See video from WestboroughTV, time 00:24:50 to 01:01:30) One suggestion was to conduct a public education campaign which could include, for example, a 2-hour seminar to learn about coyotes and how to prevent attacks.
As the Telegram reported, "Laura Hajduk, furbearer project leader for the state Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, said attacks such as the ones in Westboro are uncommon. ... She said about eight coyotes live in Westboro, although it may seem there are more." Laura also suggested posting links to resources from Mass Wildlife. For example:

About the Youth Commission and Westborough Youth and Family Services
The Town of Westborough's Youth Commission is a five-member volunteer board, appointed by the Board of Selectmen to advocate for the needs of youths and families in Westborough.
In 1984, the Youth Commission created Westborough Youth and Family Services, a town department whose mission is "to provide counseling for children and families, to promote prevention through collaboration with other town and community agencies and to provide education, programming and information which will enhance the lives of children and families in Westborough."
Youth Commission members guide the operation of Westborough Youth and Family Services (WYFS). Since its formation, WYFS has provided mental health and substance abuse counseling, prevention and education programs, information about mental health and substance abuse issues, and referrals to appropriate service providers for the residents of Westborough. WYFS has also taken an active role in the coordination of mental health and social services for the town. Additionally, the department runs the annual "Hot Summer Nights" summer activity program aimed at teens in middle school and early high school.
Youth Commission members need to be registered voters in Westborough. Ideal candidates will have professional involvement or volunteer experience in the mental health or human service fields, and an interest in assessing and promoting the needs of youths and families in Westborough.
The Youth Commission usually meets on the second Monday of the month at 7:30 PM with the WYFS Director to guide the direction of the department. A time commitment of about two hours a month is generally expected as well as attendance at Town Meeting.
