Dave Crandall

Candidate for School Committee

Thank you to the residents of Westborough for allowing me to serve on the School Committee for the past 5 months. I am asking for your support and your vote on March 7th to continue on the School Committee. I am pleased to combine my professional experience managing complex organizations and multi-million dollar budgets with my love of Westborough.

My family and I moved to Westborough in May, 2007, and quickly became active in the community. Currently, I am a member of the Westborough 300th Celebration planning committee, coordinating our calendar of events. In 2010 I co-founded the Boroughs JCC, located on Oak Street. and for the past 7 years have sat on their executive board. I helped plan the curriculum, negotiated leases, managed the budget, managed staff, and provided oversight to a 100 child NAEYC accredited preschool. From 2009 to 2015 I managed the annual Taste of the Boroughs promoting local restaurants. I have also been involved with the SpringFest Kids’ Run, the Turkey Trot, Fales Family Fun Day, Mill Pond Colonial Day, and town soccer, football, and basketball.

Professionally, I am currently the Director of Enterprise Architecture for UMass Memorial Health Care. I recently stepped in to manage the technical strategy for all of the entities owned by UMass Health Care. I spent the last 18 years in technology managing engineers and product lines at Google, VeriSign and I have experience managing teams ranging from 3 to 150 employees and budgets up to $140M. I also have an undergraduate degree from Carnegie Mellon and masters from Clark University.

My wife and I have three children, a 6th grader, a 4th grader, and a 5-year-old who will start kindergarten in 2017. I take pride in Westborough schools. The schools were the main driver for my family moving to Westborough as I have never considered private school. We couldn’t be happier with the decision, and I look forward to the opportunity to assist as part of the School Committee.

Lisa Edinberg

Candidate for School Committee

Fellow Westborough Residents:

My name is Lisa Edinberg. I am a candidate for one of the two open seats for the Westborough School Committee. During these challenging times, it is imperative to make informed decisions regarding your vote in the Westborough Town Election on March 7th at the High School.

In looking forward to the next three years, I want to ensure that we maintain a quality education while evolving with the changing needs of our students.

  • Prioritize 21st century skills
  • Manage the impact of population growth
  • Ensure optimal class sizes
  • Foster lifelong learning
  • Support fine arts, athletics, and special needs programs

As a taxpayer, I understand the importance of balancing the needs of our schools, with the broader needs of our town, and our town budget.

In facing these challenges and objectives, I offer a unique perspective and set of experiences to the role of School Committee Member. I bring nine years of classroom teaching experience, eight of them in Westborough at Gibbons Middle School. I left teaching to attain my MBA Cum Laude from the F.W. Olin School of Business at Babson College with a focus on entrepreneurship. I founded a business strategy consulting firm for small and midsize businesses and ran a successful online sales business offering niche craft products to customers throughout the US.

In addition to my roles as an educator and entrepreneur, I have been actively involved in supporting our schools for nearly a decade. I have volunteered as a Math Olympiad Teacher in various grade levels for eight years. I am past president and current treasurer of the Westborough Education Foundation, raising funds for innovative teacher grants. I served four years on the School Council at Fales Elementary, and currently serve on Mill Pond’s School Council.

With your support, and your vote on March 7th, I hope to use my knowledge and experience to serve the children, faculty, staff, parents, and community of the Westborough Public Schools.

Thank you for your support, and your vote.

Lisa Edinberg

Neil Feldman

Candidate for School Committee

My name is Neil Feldman and I am running for one of the open positions on the Westborough School Committee. My wife, Beth, and I joke that we are now in year 22 of a three-year plan to stay in Westborough. When we decided to stay in Massachusetts instead of moving back to California, we only looked at houses in Westborough, largely due to the excellent school system. From the time my son entered Westborough Public Schools thirteen years ago, I have been volunteering in various capacities. I have been a parent teacher in the elementary math enrichment program, a chaperone for many trips, and an active member of the Westborough Fine Arts Education Association, currently finishing my second year as president. My son is currently a first-year at the University of Virginia and my daughter is a sophomore at the high school.

My goals, if I am lucky enough to be elected to the School Committee, are to:

  • Preserve the excellent quality of education provided throughout all schools in the district
  • Look for creative ways the schools can support the Westborough community
  • Ensure we spend the funds that the town and state provide in ways that give us the most bang for the buck

I believe my background makes me highly qualified for a seat on the School Committee. I am currently an IT Director at Emerson College, so I have daily exposure to technology challenges in education and know how to solve them. I have managed multi-million dollar budgets and have over 15 years experience serving on the boards of several local non-profit organizations. I am also a consensus builder and am committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to excel in our school system.

I look forward to serving the town as a member of the Westborough School Committee and ask for your support to make this happen.

Thank you.
