Westborough Welcomes New Chief 

Westborough, MA

After months of searching (started in October), Westborough as of 8:21 pm has a new Chief of Police.

Lieutenant Alan R. Gordon was promoted to the position of Chief and sworn in by Town Clerk Nancy J. Yendriga. 

Many people friends family and residents came to greet the new Chief and to congratulate him. 

 

The selectmen interviewed 34 applicants and picked four finalists for the position of police chief, At a meeting May 16. The selectmen unanimously voted to promote Westborough Police Lieutenant Alan Gordon to the position, effective July 1. Police Chief Glenn R. Parker ( Westborough's Chief since 1993) is set to retire June 30. 

The Police Chief Screening Committee, was made up of Chair Donald Hall, Selectman Denzil Drewry, Fire Chief Walter N. Perron, Reverend Robert Brown, and Town Coordinator Henry Danis.

Lieutenant Gordon has been with the Westborough Police Department for 24 years, starting as a patrol officer and working his way up to sergeant, lieutenant then to the position of executive officer.

Chief Gordon, was signed to a 3 year contract with the town.
