Westborough – James P. Desrosiers, author of children’s book “From Impossible,” will be at Tatnuck Bookseller Saturday, Feb. 18, from 1-3 p.m. From Impossible is based on the real-life relationship between the author and Ron Bouchard, a local car racing legend. It is appropriate for ages 4-9 years old and teaches the lessons of believing in yourself, overcoming obstacles, dealing with failure, never giving up, and achieving goals.

The main character, Jamie, lives in a town called Impossible. Impossible is less about the town and more about Jamie’s state of mind. He doesn’t believe in himself and thinks achieving big goals is impossible. Until one day when Jamie goes to a local race track and sees “The Kid,” a race car driver who is also from Impossible, compete in and win a race. This inspires Jamie to pursue his own goal. The story follows both Jamie and The Kid as they chase their dreams. Jamie begins inventing an umbrella and The Kid quickly rises through the ranks in racing and competes against the greatest drivers in the world! What happens when Jamie’s first attempt fails? What happens when The Kid is in 3rd place with only one lap remaining?

There are local businesses referenced in the book, including Westboro Speedway, the race track where the author (Jamie) was first inspired by Ron Bouchard (The Kid). There are two versions of the book, a “boy” and “girl” version. The story is the same, only the gender of the main character is different, making it appropriate and relatable to both boys and girls everywhere. At the end of the book, the reader is prompted to discuss real-life goals with the child who is enjoying the story.

Tatnuck Bookseller is located at 18 Lyman St., the Westborough Shopping Center.
